Opposing Views is an American website where experts debate topics ranging from autism and child care to abortion and capital punishment. It was founded by Internet entrepeneur Russell Fine. Among its strongest proponents has been tech guru Andrew Keen, who described the site as "convincing proof that Web 2.0's cult of amateur content is rapidly going out of fashion" and that "the internet's new 'new thing' is expertise." "Expert" contributors of original content to the site include Zeyno Baran, Joshua Marquis, Wesley J. Smith, Elliot Dorff, Jacob M. Appel, Shazzie, Tibor Machan and Diana Furchtgott-Roth. Q. If you get answers that offer a different perspective do you actually digest and consider it or do you just do a knee-jerk thumbs down? I answered a question from someone who was pro 2nd Amendment but apparently anti- Obama. I am also pro 2nd Amendment and my answer reflected that, however since it did not sufficiently bash Obama, I got a thumbs-down. Why even ask a question if you're not going to thoroughly read the answers before rejecting them? Asked by auntiecoagulant - Fri Oct 3 18:23:24 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I really do try to. I am always open to different opinions and perspectives. That's how you learn! Politically, I find I incorporate views from both sides in my decision making, and really try to avoid stereotyping people, and thinking purely along one party line or the other. I am a liberal and agree with Conservatives that we shouldn't fund medical care for illegals. What's your common ground? Asked by tarro - Sat Aug 4 00:04:00 2007 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments A. I am conservative with libritarian values The First Amendment. Respect for the military. (Rational Dems not the crazy lefties.) The Fifth Amendmant. Gay rights. I really don't care as long as they don't force someone who doesn't believe in it to preform the service. Abotion up to a point. 3rd trimester is to late for me. At that point it becomes murder. At least it does to me. Although I just heard someone say they would support it until 30 days after birth. I think that is completely overstepping their bounds. Q. If you want the inside scoop on an organization structure and culture, who do you turn to? Who is in the best position to tell you secrets within an organizations history? Why would anyone take the word of a practicing member of a cult? Could a cult member actually ascribe anything other than the purest motives to the cult he or she belongs to? How can you wake a cult member up to the above reality? All questions that center around this absolute fear jw's have of reading or even considering outside the cult information. You cannot brainwash an individual with a particular worldview if you allow that individual access to other views, especially views that are based on reality.
