Religion in schools - Pastafarianism? Q. My husband believes religion should be allowed in schools. I, on the other hand, am very Pro-separation of church and state. However, I am struggling a little because as a devoted Pastafarian, there is a small part of me that would love to have the teachings of the great FSM (blessed beef him) taught to our impressionable children. How can I reconcile my political beliefs with my wish to have the one true religion embraced by all? I am sympathetic to your dilemma. I think you can spread the one true religion outside of school. Talk like a pirate whenever possible. On a serious note to Wished I Could; I have read the Constitution and the relevant passage says: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." How does this bolster your claim of freedom of not from religion? It specifically prohibits congress from establishing a religion. This was extended to the states by the fourteenth amendment.
